Born in the Midwest, George has spent time both in Omaha, Nebraska and Des Moines, Iowa. He works in retail, but has long had the dream of being an author. With the support of family and friends, George decided to write a story inspired by his grandfather.
“Set Free: An Amish Journey” is a work of fiction. However, some of the events are based on facts and stories told by George’s late father about the unusual life of his grandfather. In George’s mind, the fictional church district of Karsten Field is set in the small communities of eastern Iowa.

Amish Blizzards: Volume One: A Winter Surplus begins with Amish schoolteacher, Abby Yoder, unpacking quarts of food and settling into her new rented farmhouse.  Suddenly, a knock at the door brings a handsome Amish widower named Nathan Yoder, who had previously sent three schoolteachers packing when they had become engaged. 

   Nathan has secretly prayed for "that one" to come along, be devoted to teaching, and to not fall in love.  However, he also has  been asking God for "that other one" to come knocking, the one that will be a mother to his children and a devoted wife to him.

   Abby's main purpose is for money.  She had packed up and left Indiana to take the teaching job in Millersburg, Ohio, so that her blind sister can get funds to attend The School for the Blind in Louisville.  Six other blind Amish girls, all of whom moved to Indiana in hopes of schooling, depend of Abby to work hard and send money home. 

   Abby finds herself off-track as she finds Nathan very handsome; she is intrigued by him.  Nathan returns the feelings, saying that her eyes are mesmerizing.  Can each fight their own desires to provide the needs for others, or will their needs be so strong that they may give in to love?

His last chance was their only hope.  A man on the brink of self-destruction is given the opportunity to start over.  Allan Howarth is unhappy in work, in marriage, in family. He is stressed by finances and relationship problems. When a letter arrives from a long forgotten friend, Allan suddenly finds an opportunity to help himself, his wife and their two teenage children. The letter presents Allan with a unique possibility which leads him on an Amish journey.  Along his journey, Allan’s life changes in more ways than he could imagine over the course of a year. From a mid-winter baptism to a blazing barn fire, his faith is challenged. In the end, Allan will learn why his last chance was the only hope for the people of Karsten Field.  It is a story of birth, death and renewal that shows Allan how bright God’s future can be.
