Bequeathed: Book 5 of the Trivallyn Saga

After convening to solidify their battle strategies, Trivallyn's leaders loyal to the found Gods depart from Morvay to return to their own countries and begin preparing for war.

In Dargis, Reay and Prince Pavula continue to search for the Neutral God, Terek and the Black Sister sent to destroy him. But when Reay loses her hold over the Evil dragons of Gaal, all those fighting for the found Gods suddenly find themselves vulnerable to the mighty forces of the wizard Clail.

Finally free of the command keeping them from open confrontation, Jian and Clail begin the final battles as they are at last drawn together in the clash foreseen long ago.

After battles seeing both Zane Rivenor and Tynon Mondy leading their armies to victory, Roan Almara prepares his own force to face the contingent of fellow Morvanians moving to meet them. In Dargis, Kaymin Numont continues leading his own army toward the largest of the enemy's threats, a body held under the command of Vanek Pavula.

To the north, Zeidan Pavula continues to struggle to protect the Gateway. With its defenses threatened by the presence of Broda Lyndon and Isenor Mithwell, all gathered prepare to meet the foreign army of the Kavaarin, men undefeated in battle and determined to claim all of Trivallyn for their own.

With the fate of Trivallyn's southern countries decided, both the Chosen and those loyal to the Father God now turn their sights to the north. Wherry has now been returned to Mithwell rule, and with Pellarin quickly falling under the leadership of pirate Tynon Mondy, it is the country of Morvay that draws attention from both sides.

Morvay continues to be held by Jostin Mithwell, the Wherrite king, even as Morvay's prince journeys from the south to reclaim his lands and challenge those who hold them. Now reinforced with a small army of fellow wizards, it is Jian's intention to aid in this, preparing the force he controls to face the entire Wherrite royal army in a confrontation that will impact all of Trivallyn.

After escaping the battle in Gaal's royal city of Opelia, Kaymin, Reay, and Coedy arrive in Wyrren with the depleted forces of the Black Sisters' army. With only a lone God remaining bound, they start into the Servinian Mountains to confront the Chosens' greatest challenge yet-- the guard of dragons Diamont has set to protect his shard.

In the deserts of Corrado far to the east, King Zane Rivenor begins plotting his retaliation for the usurpation of his own royal city. Surrounded by enemies and without any other race to name as ally, he knows that confronting the Father God's forces here in Corrado will be his people's only chance for survival.

Now finding themselves prisoners of the desert king in Corrado, Jian, Kaymin, Cheyne and Coedy find themselves desperate to escape in order to carry on with the quest given them by the Gods. With two shards left to uncover, and the identities of the final two Chosen still unknown, time grows ever shorter.

Throughout the other countries of Trivallyn, circumstances have grown increasingly dire. The icy lands of Wherry have been conquered and continue to sit in enemy hands, the plague affecting Gaal takes more and more victims each day, and the famine in Morvay threatens its people with starvation. With the final two Gods yet to be located and freed, Trivallyn's fate balances upon the very brink of utter destruction.

Ryson Acumen battles frustration and fatigue as another struggle unfolds before him. A growing conflict threatens to engulf Uton from the western shores to the eastern plains. Illusions abound after the magic from an erratic sorceress alters the corridors of life and death, and the delver faces internal doubts as well as horrific monsters.

A treacherous creation first hunts the dark creatures of a nightmare realm, but the danger quickly falls back upon Uton. Forced to choose between divergent paths, Ryson must rely on others to defend the person he cares about the most. He can only hope his friends are able to defeat a new menace that revives old fears.

While the delver ventures into the Lacobian Desert, cliff behemoths vow to protect his wife, Linda, just as the elf guard, Holli Brances, leads spell casters against an unknown and dangerous foe in the abandoned town of Pinesway. Even the powerful wizard, Enin, enters the clash in hopes of ending the conflict before too many lives are lost. It is ultimately up to Ryson Acumen to defeat his inner demons and to find the answers that will save Uton and all its inhabitants.

The western cites of Uton are overwhelmed by a massive exodus from the Great Valleys. Pressed from their homes by a growing distress, humans flee across the central plains in hopes of finding refuge from the suffocating fear that swells with each passing day. As the wizard Enin tries to maintain control in Connel, he works with dwarves and humans to quell the growing crisis. He sends Ryson Acumen along with Holli Brances to investigate the strange occurrences reported by the displaced farmers and merchants.

While exploring the eastern valleys, the delver and the elf uncover bizarre circumstances that contradict their understanding of rational behavior. Each mysterious revelation adds to an ever expanding puzzle. Goblins have infested the cities and the farmlands, but not by force. With the consent of local authorities, dark creatures inundate the eastern lands, taking ownership of farms and claiming residence within human towns without outward conflict or apparent treachery.

As humans and goblins are forced to coexist throughout the region, order is enforced by half-demons, but a tense apprehension grips the citizens of nearly every village and city. Many decide to escape the valleys. Farmers abandon their fields and merchants leave their shops. The flow of refugees grows, putting a greater strain on the western towns of Connel and Burbon.

Ryson and Holli continue their search for answers only to meet with opposition from local councils, town guards, and a powerful regional steward. They struggle against goblins and half-demons and even attempt to enlist the aid of dwarves from the underground city of Sterling. Throughout their efforts, goblins continue to pour into the valleys just as more humans abandon their homes. A twisted plan of deceit gradually takes shape as Ryson and Holli follow a chain of bargains meant not only to remove all the people from the valleys, but to destroy the entire human race.

The broken world will descend into chaos unless the Staff of Law is restored, but the pieces are lost. Knowing that the world is doomed, Chanter creates a safe haven for the Chosen, but Talsy persuades the Mujar to take her on a quest to find the pieces of the staff. Yet even if they succeed, the laws have been lost forever, scattered by the winds and turned to dust... Or have they?

The broken world falls deeper into madness without the laws that govern life, and the son Talsy bears Chanter is an abomination, able to kill with his stunted powers. The young Mujar who roams the lawless land, blinded by golden fire, is the world’s last hope. The chosen must brave the madness to find him, but if the Ghost Riders find them only a creature of the chaos can save them…
