Synopsis

1911. East Africa. The great golden age of hunting, when men came from all around the world to Africa for the opportunity to shoot animals in the wild. Charles Waverly-Alcott, however, hates hunting. He’d rather read a good book. His father, Sir Edmund, a great huntsman, has pulled Charles from school in England to go on safari in Africa. Charles can’t understand why, as his father barely tolerates his presence on good days. Charles just knows the whole venture is bound to leave his father disappointed with him yet again. But when one of their hunting party kills a hyena-witch, the consequences are devastating. Witches always have sisters, and this sister curses the hunters, including Sir Edmund. With his father’s life in the balance, Charles must traverse the African wilderness by himself in order to find the wise man who knows the cure. Charles fears he will fail.
