'Dangerous Curves' is an unusual insight into real police work and real situations described in a detail that is as clear as a photograph. Untainted and unvarnished, this book is anecdotal, autobiographical, and true police work that has been taken from the sharp end of the job. No effort has been made to spare the author’s blushes or those of his colleagues.
One hilarious, frightening or heart-breaking incident slips seamlessly into another making this an impossible book to put down. The story is rounded off with a factual and sequential account written by the then Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police, Mr Colin Smith CVO QPM composed in typical police reporting idiom, that try as it might, cannot disguise the horror of the long hot summer afternoon and evening of the Hungerford Massacre.
To people of a sensitive and retiring disposition, this book is probably not right for you.
From the first to the last page, Dangerous Curves is a wonderful read for those of us who rarely get an opportunity to view the human race at its very best or at its awful worst…
