VOLUME 2 of GREEK LETTERS and second in the series "Jigsaw".
As Nafplio becomes the first capital of Greece in 1829 and the country recovers from the War of Independence, Samuel Carr, a young widower with an infant son, arrives in the historic city to set up home and a farming business under the watchful eye of his friend Ioannis and his mentor the first President of Greece, Capodistrias. Swept along by the excitement and optimism of the times and struggling to keep pace with the responsibility the new statesmen offer him, the Philhellene suddenly returns home to Cheshire.
Upsetting his servants en route events on the journey home set up an unexpected scenario and when eventually he returns to Greece a strange turn of occurrence will haunt the family forever…
Travel is clearly in Samuel's blood, and although it takes tragedy to encourage him to return to Greece to see his now adult son, he embraces the daunting journey with optimism and his efforts are rewarded. Well are they? Is Samuel destined to be haunted by his past experiences in Greece and blackmailed for ever? Unsettling events as he journeys through the Continent and Greece have a sinister outcome which may not show Samuel in a good light.
The Author: Suzi Stembridge lives in Yorkshire with her family and was educated at Penrhos College, North Wales and at the Open University. She has worked in travel most of her life and was the founder and Managing Director of Filoxenia Ltd, the Greek tour operator, until it was sold in 2004, as well as the travel agency Greco-file and has travelled extensively in Greece and the rest of Europe.
All the works in the series have a historical setting, together with a strong sense of place – and all the books have a Greek and UK North Country bias and all can be read independently in any order.
