Synopsis

Two old school friends reconnect unexpectedly after thirty-five years and discover that they both love travelling - and the more exotic and far-flung the location, the better! Not having a clue whether they will get along, and realising each other's well-developed eccentricities could make things even more fraught, the pair embarks on a trial journey to Morocco to see if they can survive the stresses of travelling into the unknown. They soon discover their delight in laughing at themselves and each other, and quickly rekindle their friendship. That tentative beginning has turned into a series of wonderful extended holidays, and Hilary and Liz have been circumnavigating the globe ever since. Among many other destinations, they have taken in Marrakech, Fez and the Atlas Mountains in North Africa; Patagonia and the Galapagos Islands; Istanbul, Cappadocia and Antalya in Turkey; safaris in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and the Serengeti; music festivals in Naples and Prague; and the western isles of Mull and Iona. Along the way they have encouraged, enraged and entertained each other, becoming lifelong friends while living through countless adventures. This is a book for thrill-seekers, the adventurous and armchair travellers alike, a celebration of friendship, laughter and all that's good in the world - and an inspiration for anyone who's longed to venture outside their comfort zone and travel to exotic places. Leap and the net will appear, and life will never seem so much fun! 'This book is an inspiring testament to the belief that age is no barrier to enjoying life to the utmost, as Hilary and Liz explore the world gobbling up every adventure they can find and living and learning along the way.' - Sandra Levy. 'It's the ideal time of life to travel: the uninhibited years. Having relished the saucy stories and unique observations, you too will be inspired to grab a friendly granny, decimate the super fund, stockpile the meds and let your gut prevail...A sensuous book tingling with the romance and adventure of an Old Girls Own Annual.' - Susie Carleton. 'Take me! Take me! I'm desperate to go on holliers" with Hilly and Lizzie and join in their glorious gallivanting.' - Wendy Harmer. 'I warned people not to let these two women of a certain age loose on the world. Now look what's happened.' - Louis Nowra.
