CrossBooks, February 2012
At the age of four, Michael Degnan was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. His parents were told he had only ten years of quality life ahead; after that, he would steadily deteriorate. In the weeks following the diagnosis, his parents wept, dealt with fear, and fervently prayed that God would spare Michael from the disease and heal him completely.
Through the years that followed, they began to call on the name of the Lord; even though God chose not to heal Michael completely, the Lord has sustained him for thirty-four years. Through journal entries, Michael’s mother, Cyndie, shares the family’s remarkable journey in His Strength Made Perfect.
From their daily challenges and their cries to God for help to the numerous, miraculous answers to prayer they received, Cyndie shows how Michael grew to be a fine Christian man of incredible spiritual and emotional strength despite his physical weakness. The experience made Cyndie realize that God teaches us through the difficult circumstances He allows in our lives. He turns them into a great victory beyond our wildest dreams when we learn to depend on him for everything.
Inspiration, faith, and love become one in His Strength Made Perfect. If you’re struggling with life’s challenges, Michael’s story can encourage and strengthen you.
