Synopsis

Learn WHERE and HOW you can cut thousands of dollars from everyday expenses. My home phone and cell phone is less than $10 a month including long distance. Say goodbye to bank charges and lots more. Saving a few hundred a year on ten or twenty expenses saves thousands every year. Find ways to save $7,000 a year in my book.

Money problems aren't fixed with earning more money. Money problems are fixed with better information, learning better valuation techniques and good old fashioned common sense. All too often consumers evaluate an expense on a per cost basis.

How much does a daily $1.50 cup of coffee cost? It's over $600 a year with tax added. Although a $1.50 cost isn't much money on the surface it becomes a back breaking cost to someone earning minimum wage of less than $18,000 a year in take home pay.

If that person purchases a thermos and takes it to work making their own coffee they will save at least $300 a year. If they find ten items where they save $300 on an annual basis they have saved $3,000. Saving on twenty items is equivalent to well over $6,000 in an after tax raise at work. It's far easier to save $6,000 than it usually is to get a $6,000 raise.

Many quick oil change businesses will tell you to change your oil every 5,000 kms (3000 miles). Modern oils don't break down the way oil used to, but most people continue to change it every 5,000 kms. My 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix has a 10,000 km oil change recommendation.

I drive about 20,000 kms per year which means I should change the oil twice. If I changed it every 5,000 kms I would need 4 oil changes. The cost of an oil change at a dealer is about $50.00. So far I've saved $100.00 over the course of one year. If I go to a small garage or 'backyard mechanic' they will probably change my oil for $25.00. That saves me another $50.00. $150.00 is a lot of money for most people and worth the effort.

To find out what the oil change interval is for your car go to the manufacturers website and look it up. While some cars now have oil change intervals of up to 20,000 kms, that is under ideal conditions. If you subject your vehicle to severe driving conditions it may require more frequent oil changes than those recommended.

Most common car oil recommendations can easily be found at the website described inside the book.

I'll teach you new expense evaluation techniques and exactly which companies to deal with to get far better deals as well as a free game that makes saving money fun.

Common sense says spending a very few dollars to learn how to save thousands year after year is a good investment, (especially when the author has already saved you hundreds of dollars here and more in just the free section).
