Written by a trained hypnotherapist, David Robinson, “Hypnotherapy for Health” looks at hypnosis and its usefulness in both supporting and sometimes replacing conventional medicine. During the late 1980s and early 90s there was a boom in alternative medical practices, and amongst them was hypnotherapy.
As far back as Mesmer, hypnosis has been known to have beneficial effects on general health, improving many conditions from diet control to addictions, stress and anxiety to pain relief. With an increased interest in “new age” philosophies, there has also been an upsurge in “past life regression” in an effort to judge whether the cosmic law of karma has an influence on present problems. Written in simple, layman’s terms, “Hypnotherapy for Health” looks briefly at the history of hypnotism, and the kind of modern problem it can address. There is also a non-judgemental section covering past life regression and the use of hypnosis to “tap” psychic abilities.
The work discusses the hypnotic process in detail, the work of the conscious and subconscious minds, and how hypnosis bypasses the conscious to work directly with subconscious. The text then examines the subject’s experience of hypnosis, the art of constructing positive suggestions, and the work of post-hypnotic suggestion. “Hypnotherapy for Health” concludes with a section on finding and visiting a hypnotherapist.
