Perché quando scoppia l'amore, il maschio alfa si trasforma in ectoplasma omega. C'è un solo rimedio per evitare il disastro: la fuga. È una strategia da mettere in pratica immediatamente, al primo insorgere di quello stato d'animo chiamato innamoramento, senza curarsi degli effetti collaterali. Come dicevano gli antichi romani: vita mea, mortacci tua. In caso d'amore scappa è molto più che un libro divertentissimo. Dentro il racconto delle situazioni classiche c'è l'accorato grido d'allarme di un artista, Dario Cassini, che le donne le conosce e le ama moltissimo. Superata la soglia dei quarant'anni, le sue reiterate e sempre fallimentari relazioni con l'altro sesso l'hanno convinto che non c'è pace fra i due antagonisti presenti in natura. Al punto da fargli scrivere, in un picco di sconsolata lucidità: "Ma quando verrà la fine dei tempi, il mondo sarà donna o almeno in quell'occasione potremo fare come ci pare?".
