Soccer is among the most notorious sports in history. It traveled to the United States from countries on the European continent (where it still holds the title of “football” rather than soccer) and has become one of the great American pastimes, along with baseball and basketball.
Soccer is not for the faint of heart. It takes a great deal of muscle and endurance to keep up when you are racing across a field as fast as you can in an attempt to outrun the competition.
In order to prepare yourself to play soccer you are going to have to build a fitness regime to ensure that you are as physically prepared as you could possibly be the first time you step out onto that field. You will need to make a concentrated effort to eat properly and set aside a portion of your day to work out and keep fit so that you are prepared for anything the playing field might throw your way.
After getting your body into shape, you will need to learn some fundamental components of the game. Most skills will be formally taught to you when you begin to practice with your team; however, there are basic skills you are expected to have and to be as finely honed as possible.
This book will be your coaching guide as you start to learn soccer. We’ll give you the basic moves, great tips to practice your soccer skills, help you get fit and, most of all, teach you how to have a great time with the game!
