Synopsis

La vida del patriarca Abraham estuvo llena de simbolismos que señalaban a cumplimientos proféticos dentro del plan divino hasta la aparición del Redentor de la humanidad.

La circuncisión imperativa del anciano patriarca y todos los varones de su casa fue así mismo una revelación generalizada de lo que sería la historia en lo adelante; y como representante de la ley y la fe, el hombre de Dios simbolizaba a dos pueblos o corrientes espirituales además de influir en futuro de todas las naciones.

Dicha unificación de los pueblos es simbolizada en éste rito de la circuncisión (Gn 17: 12-13, 27) cuando vemos que tanto el nacido en casa--hebreo--como el extranjero comprado--gentil convertido--podían a través de éste pacto del 8vo día pasar a ser un solo y unificado pueblo de Dios; como una gran familia de naciones bajo el mismo reino.

Dios, por primera vez en toda la historia bíblica llama a un hombre con el honorable título de gran Amigo y éste hombre fue el hebreo de origen siríaco Abraham. En su extraordinaria dispensación de los tiempos y las cosas el Creador le revela al gran Amigo su plan de redención de la raza humana.
