Synopsis

Dr. Archibald von Bruener is a brilliant medical research scientist for the Diogenes Corporation on the very Earth-like planet of Kallisto. When he discovers that he has a degenerative blood disorder, he secretly alters his research from spinal cord restoration and limb re-growth to organic robotics. In a secret lab inside his corporate one, von Bruener constructs an organic robotic body. Using highly-advanced scientific theory, he plans to transfer his consciousness into the artificial body. Kallisto Bureau of Investigation Field Agent Andreas Solon has been dispatched to the Diogenes Corporation to investigate who"s been embezzling money from the company"s coffers. The no-nonsense Solon quickly gets to work and is quickly on the trail of the culprit. But an explosion in the West Tower on the Diogenes campus suddenly transforms Agent Solon"s routine investigation into a planetary incident, and kills his prime suspect. In the span of a couple weeks, Agent Solon watches his jurisdiction over the investigation slip away until he is abruptly taken off the case and shipped off to a remote region to lead another embezzling investigation. And his understudy-whom he has developed great confidence in-is assigned to a new agent. Suspecting a government cover-up, Agent Solon contacts a fellow agent in the Bureau; a man who is considered a laughingstock, but somehow appears to operate on his own plane. It is in his dealings with Agent Ludwig Kassel that he is introduced to Black Eagle, a top secret government watchdog agency established years earlier by a former prime minister. Working together, and outside KBI knowledge, Solon and Kassel investigate a most unnerving theory. Dr. Archibald von Bruener wakes up feeling very strange. Panic immediately engulfs him as he realizes he is inside a tube filled with a strange liquid. He desperately tries to pull himself up and out of the tube but his motor skills seem to be very off. After minutes of struggling, he emerges and tumbles down to the floor. It takes several more minutes to realize that he is no longer the Archibald von Bruener that he"s known his whole life. His body looks and feels totally foreign and he is completely naked. Suddenly, the memories come flooding back and he is astounded by his accomplishment. Gone is the dying, debilitated body of Archibald von Bruener; replaced by the incredibly strong, healthy body of a synthetic human. Dr. von Bruener struggles to his feet and stands in front of a mirror and gazes upon his new self, Simon Protos; the very first of his kind. After a couple hours getting used to his new body, Simon quickly executes his preconceived plan to hide his accomplishment from the rest of the world. Unbeknownst to him, a government agent is already on site and has a preliminary bead on him. Will Simon be able to cover his tracks and begin a whole new life? Will Agent Solon discover the truth and find Simon Protos? And what will the consequences of Archibald von Bruener"s actions be?
