Who are the Greens, where do they come from and where are they going? Amanda Lohrey was born in Tasmania. Her first novel was The Morality of Gentlemen, published in 1984, followed by The Reading Group and then Camille's Bread, winner of the Australian Literature Societys gold medal and a Victorian premiers literary award in 1996. She is the author of two Quarterly Essays, Groundswell and Voting for Jesus. Her recent novels include The Philosophers Doll (2004) and Vertigo (2008).
