2375: Before he joined the crew of the U.S.S. da Vinci as their linguist, Dr. Bartholomew Faulwell served as a Starfleet cryptographer during the Dominion War. Of the many missions he performed, however, there is one he cannot discuss that still haunts his memory. . . .

Once he was assigned with a team of specialists to a secret starbase near Dominion-controlled territory to listen in on enemy communications. At first the assignment is routine, but soon they discover vital intelligence that may change the face of the war!

During the Dominion War, the Miradorn -- ninety percent of whom are telepathically linked twins -- allied themselves with the Dominion. Now, in the wake of the Alpha Quadrant's victory in that war, the Miradorn are eager to improve their relationship with the Federation -- especially in light of the numerous dangerous devices the Dominion left behind.

One of them has killed a Miradorn scientist named Or-Lin. Now, the S.C.E. team on the U.S.S. da Vinci must deactivate the rest of the devices before they become responsible for wiping out the entire Miradorn species -- but the only one who can help them is Or-Lin's twin, Em-Lin, who is still devastated by the death of her sister....

2369: With the recommissioning of the U.S.S. Progress, Captain David Gold is contemplating his next command while on a mission to the Federation protectorate Drema IV. Gold's chief medical officer, Dr. Katherine Pulaski, has her own reasons for wanting to return to Drema IV -- to check up on a former patient of hers: Sarjenka, a girl who befriended Data of the Starship Enterprise™, and whose memories Pulaski erased.

A mining accident on Drema IV brings together the S.C.E., Pulaski, Gold, and Sarjenka in an adventure that will have far-reaching consequences for all of them....

Two Starfleet officers arrive in an attempt to recruit Bynars for the Starfleet Corps of Engineers -- but when one of the potential recruits is found dead, it's up to Citizen Services investigators 110 and 111 to determine the cause of death. Centuries ago, the S.S. Mariposa transported two sets of colonists -- one a "back-to-nature" group called the Bringloidi, the other a collection of scientists -- to new worlds. Over a decade ago, the Starship Enterprise brought the colonies back together as a solution to two problems -- the Bringloidi had lost their home to solar flares, and the Mariposans faced a breeding crisis brought about by their use of cloning.

However, the union has not been as fruitful as Captain Picard had hoped, and now the S.C.E. team of the U.S.S. da Vinci has been called in to solve the Mariposans problem -- but will the solution be even worse than the problem?

Her initial months are difficult -- an incident involving Picard and a cup of hot chocolate is followed by a brutal encounter with the Borg -- but Gomez slowly begins to find her place on the Enterprise even as the ship deals with crises, from the Pakleds to the Ferengi to a return engagement with the Borg. But it is her colleague, Kieran Duffy, who proves to be her greatest challenge, as the driven young woman must decide if a relationship is something that fits with her notion of a Starfleet career....

2265: Following the discoveries made by the U.S.S. Constellation in the Taurus Reach, Starfleet has fast-tracked the construction of Starbase 47, a.k.a. Vanguard. But the rapid construction has meant concomitant technical problems, ones that are vexing Vanguard's commanding officer, Commodore Diego Reyes.

So it's the Corps of Engineers to the rescue. The U.S.S. Lovell, with its crack S.C.E. team led by Lt. Commander Mahmud al-Khaled, must solve Vanguard's technical crises so the base can become operational as planned.

While repairing an observation post, P8 Blue and Domenica Corsi find themselves caught in the middle of an interplanetary conflict involving a pre-warp civilization -- with one side unwilling to fight, even to defend themselves.

Unable to stand idly by and allow a slaughter to take place, Corsi and Blue must risk breaking the Prime Directive in a fight that they may not even win....

At first, Dr. Sarjenka -- the first Dreman to graduate from Starfleet Medical Academy -- thought her posting to the da Vinci as deputy chief medical officer was a dream assignment. But her new boss, Dr. Elizabeth Lense, doesn't want her there, her mentor, Captain Gold, is surly and unapproachable, and she finds the atmosphere on the da Vinci to be radically different from what she expected.

Sarjenka's trial by fire comes when the da Vinci is sent to Betrisius, where neural implants that are used to rehabilitate criminals in lieu of prisons are malfunctioning. The S.C.E. team must find a way to repair the damage -- and learn the truth behind why the implants aren't working before the planet devolves into chaos....
