It doesn’t matter if you live in a bedsit, apartment, terraced house, semi-detached house or even a -stately home, we are now living in a society that has rediscovered entertaining in our own homes. There is nothing as satisfying as having a group of friends and family over to your home for lunch or dinner and providing them with the most delightful and memorable event that you can organise. When you achieve an in-home event successfully, you will feel a massive sense of achievement and the ultimate self-confidence boost that you can imagine.
In the society we live in today, there is so much pressure on each individual to work their hardest, often in these work environments we are overlooked or side stepped and generally not appreciated by our employers etc. To host a dinner party in your own home successfully can go a long way to giving us the ego boost and self-confidence that is so lacking in our normal day to day lives, so don’t underestimate how important hosting a great party can be.
In this book I am giving you all the tools that you will require for creating the ultimate and perfect dinner party. I was trained as a butler by my Grandfather who worked for over 60 years in a stately home for over three generations of Viscounts and Viscountesses. He also served many Royal visitors and dignitaries that visited the estate. He passed all his knowledge and expertise on to me during my childhood and adolescence. I have worked in hotels at the international 5 star level for nearly 20 years. I also ran an event management company which specilaised in conferences and events for the Government and international companies. I have now combined all this knowledge from each sector into a series of books. I am now letting you into the secrets of hospitality at its very best. This book is a compact guide to all aspects of entertaining in your own home. This book covers everything from being the perfect host/hostess to being the perfect guest. Included are the general principles of etiquette, how to set your dining table whilst creating a special ambience in your home through the design of flowers and table arrangements, details on how to create special napkin folds, parlour and dinner party games to entertain guests. Also featured is the simplified art of balancing food and wine, cocktails and aperitifs to serve alongside your party and Hors d’oeuvre recipes to serve at a drinks or your dinner party. Finally a small selection of menus together with recommended wines for the perfect dinner party.
The concept for this book came about because I felt that society has emerged in the last number of years from a period of affluence and an abundance of money. Unfortunately however, people are now experiencing a downturn with some massive consequences. In association with the opulence and arrogance that became a global phenomenon, we forgot the basic principles of being polite and respectful to each other. This book is designed to redress this imbalance in society whilst creating a lifestyle that can be achieved within your own means.
