College life is sort of independent living. For most, it will be the first time away from home and away from family.
It is the time when the college student will finally know how it is to be on his own. This means that he will need to be self-sufficient. He will need to look out for his own needs at his own time. Mom will no longer be there to constantly remind him of what time it is and to tell him what to do. Definitely, for many, they discover that it is a challenge to manage their time on their own.

Also, you will need to fit in extra-curricular activities, your social life, and part-time work schedule for some, in order to balance things out and come out a well-rounded person who has abilities, experience and achievements in a variety of fields.
More often than not, college students find it a headache to plan their time and fit in all the tasks into their schedule and still not have enough time in the day for everything they need and want to do. That is why time management is essential.
Learning to manage their time is the very first hurdle all college students will face. The trick is to find the balance between school, work and fun so that college life can turn out to be a memorable achievement.
