Among the Nezreka, a tribe steeped in wolf magic, Darq begins to learn of his destiny and meets his match in a har who was a prime mover of Wraeththu when they first erupted into the world.

Loki har Aralis is the favoured son of the Tigrons in Immanion, but he too is unaware of his real heritage, or the secrets that surrounded his creation. He is abducted from home to the stark realm of Thanatep, where forests of ancient towers are all that remain of a race that once controlled the life essence of multiple realms.

Geburael har Teraghast is the high son of Tigron Pellaz, but holds his family in contempt. Living in exile with his half brother, the peculiar Diablo, Geburael believes that the great Aralisian dynasty in Immanion must fall, and he is more than prepared to be instrumental in its destruction. His first and perhaps greatest task will be to convince Loki he should feel the same way.

Meanwhile, the Kamagrian Lileem uncovers the greatest secret of all in the realm of the Black Library, and catalyses events that will bring the three young hara into conflict, the outcome of which will decide the fate of all Wraeththu on earth.

This final story is narrated by Cal, one of the most complex and mysterious of all the Wraeththu characters. Down on his luck, and haunted by his questionable past, Cal comes to realise he cannot escape his destiny, and that the har he once loved and believed dead is now ruler of all Wraeththu.

Based on the world created by Storm Constantine for her Wraeththu novels, the stories in this collection are set in the very early days of Wraeththu history. Struggling to come to terms with their new condition, fighting to survive amid the hostile humans who remain, and the often equally-hostile hara of other tribes, Wraeththu must learn quickly how to master their powerful abilities or succumb to the same fate that destroyed humanity.

With an introduction by TV producer Brad Carpenter, who is working on a TV mini-series inspired by the Wraeththu novels, and stories from ten writers, many of whom are well-known within Wraeththu fandom, and including a new story from Storm herself, Paragenesis expands upon the mythology of the novels, telling the stories of the prime movers whose lives altered the fate of Wraeththu for ever and the hara whose tenacity and strength helped shape the future of their race.
