C’est une petite histoire, sans prétention, qui retrace avec fidélité mon périple effectué en vélo : Carnoux-en-Provence à Aix-les-Bains en Savoie, en passant par les Alpes pour l’aller et par le Vercors pour le retour.
Elle n’a pas pour objet la recherche d’une mise en valeur personnelle. Elle est un simple témoignage sur les paysages, personnages et événements rencontrés au cours des 960 km effectués, sur 7000m de dénivelé et parmi huit départements traversés.
Rouler seul pendant une journée oblige à s’occuper l’esprit. Chaque événement, du plus anodin au plus extraordinaire, est donc l’occasion de développer un trait d’humour, un délire ou un conte, une anecdote vraie ou un souvenir réel, une pensée ou une interprétation.
Mon vélo et ma remorque, d’abord simples outils, ont rapidement pris l’image d’êtres vivants.
J’ai nommé le vélo « Cheyenne ». C’était facile, son nom était déjà inscrit sur le cadre. De plus, j’ai trouvé que ce nom d’Indien lui collait bien à la peau. Indien et cheval en même temps, mon vélo est ainsi devenu le symbole du vent et de la liberté.
J’ai nommé la remorque Caroline, en rapport à son homologue masculin le Carrosse. Elle portait dans son coffre doré tout le nécessaire à ma survie.
A nous trois, nous ne faisions plus qu’un. La défaillance d’un seul et c’est la poursuite du voyage qui était compromise.
C’est tout ce vécu que j’ai voulu restituer. Seuls mes délires ne peuvent être décrits comme je les ai vécus : Mes mots restent insuffisants. Ils ont néanmoins tous existé, et j’en ai sûrement oublié.
