The Calgary Herald began publishing as a weekly newspaper on August 31, 1883, when Calgary's population was just 400 people. Today, more than 550,000 Calgarians turn to our print, online, digital and mobile platforms to keep them in the know. Community is at the heart of what we do at the Herald every day. We are especially proud of initiatives like the Calgary Herald Christmas Fund that has now raised over $20,000,000 for local charities since its grassroots beginnings in 1991. We are pleased to lend our support to the many individuals, organizations and charities that perform admirable work on our community's behalf. Together we share a common goal to make Calgary the best place to live, work and play.
